4 Months

Mr. Caiden is 4 months old! It's gone quickly but  I feel like he has been in our life for so much longer than that!

I was flipping through pictures on my phone, and found this one from when he was 1 week old. Look how big the pacifier is compared to his face! We just upgraded to a bigger pacifier because this one is now too small and he just chews on it.

Personality: At home, Caiden is smiley and happy (unless he is hungry, tired, or bored that is). He is getting better about being in new places but puts on his serious face until he is comfortable. He is a daddy's boy... Dan gets big smiles and easy giggles! I have to work harder for laughs... but tickling his neck and giving him raspberries usually do the trick.

Activity: Caiden still loves to sit and stand (with assistance). At daycare one of his favorite activities is to be sitting in their bumbo playing with dangling toys at the "ballet bar". His caregivers are always commenting how he seems to want to be able to sit by himself so badly.

He has gotten quite reachy and grabby- over the past week there has been a noticeable improvement in his ability to grab onto toys and things. Glasses are fair game... have to be careful or you might find them ripped off of your face!! He can get the pacifier into his mouth by himself, but he doesn't understand that he has to let go of it in order for it to stay put. He still loves his bouncy chair, his ExerSaucer, and any kind of dangling toys. He is starting to tuck his knees under a little bit when he is doing tummy time, he knows that he wants to move!

Size: little chunk is still growing! His official 4 month appointment is on Friday, but he was weighed and measured this past week when I took him to be checked for a bad diaper rash. His stats: Height: 26" ( 88%), Weight: 17lbs 10oz, (95%). Taking his height into account, he is in the 75% for weight. Beefy dude! His size is all in his torso... he still fits in most 3-6 pants (as long as the waist isn't too tight :), but 6-9 and 6-12 month tops are not as baggy as I would like them to be considering he is only 4 months.

Eating: He should be getting the green light from the pediatrician to start solids anytime over the next two months, but I don't think he is ready just yet. I think we'll wait a while longer. He still has a hard time taking bottles at daycare (some days he will only take two ounces total from bottles), but putting on weight is clearly not an issue so I am trying not to stress about it.

Sleep: Caiden is usually a pretty good sleeper. Bedtime routine starts at 7, most days he is asleep by 7:30 and usually gets up once to eat. I really like it when that wake-up happens past 3am so I can get a nice big chunk of sleep too. He'll go through phases though- for a few days he might get up around 1am, but then he'll do a week of 3, 4, or 5am. He's usually up for the day between 6 and 6:30. Occasionally I have to wake him up at 6:30 to get ready to go (of course on the weekends he rarely sleeps past 6). And on some nights, he even sleeps all night long, 7:30 to 6:30. Right now we are dealing with a lingering cold though... and sleep hasn't been too great! I was napping at my desk today!
